Spooky Green Halloween Smoothie

Twins with spooky green smoothies

It’s the beginning of the holiday season and I’m excited to start it off with a fun Halloween-themed recipe! My girls are big smoothie lovers and drink one almost everyday. I love a good smoothie too, especially because I can fill it full of healthy ingredients (for me and them)! This festive green smoothie looks spooky but tastes deliciously sweet; it would be the perfect addition to any Halloween themed party or tablescape!

Disclosure: this post is sponsored by Hood® but opinions are my own.

Spooky green halloween smoothies

I really hyped these green smoothies up with my girls a few days before we actually made them (preparing toddlers for activities is key). They were really excited to make a spooky green smoothie with a bloody (raspberry) drizzle on top. When they talked about making them, they used their deep voices and hands with “spooooooky” wiggling fingers to describe them – so cute! They truly love helping me in the kitchen and we have so much fun creating fun recipes.

Green smoothie ingredients

Hood® Whole Milk in the LightBlock Bottle®

I love a cold, refreshing smoothie which is why I use Hood® Whole Milk in the LightBlock Bottle®. We think their milk is always delicious and definitely refreshing. What I didn’t realize, before learning more about Hood Milk, is that milk can have off flavors from oxidation but Hood’s LightBlock Bottle prevents this! That’s why they promise that you get premium milk in every delicious drop. Learn more about Hood here!

Another benefit of adding whole milk to this smoothie is the added 8 grams of protein and 9 essential nutrients per serving! Pair that with the protein from the chia seeds and almond butter and you’ve got a pretty nutrient dense smoothie – not to mention the nutrients from the spinach.

Green Smoothie

Before you start making these green smoothies I suggest you get all of your ingredients and supplies out and ready for action – the frozen fruits thaw fairly quickly and personally I like my smoothies super cold! To mix this smoothie I use a small Ninja food processor – it’s my favorite kitchen item ever and only around $20. I know I’ve mentioned this before with other recipes, but I like to get all of the ingredients pre-measured and ready for the girls so that the process is easier for them. I like to be prepared at all times with my two little three-nagers – you never know how long they’ll stay interested in an activity.

Once you’ve got all of your ingredients ready, you will first want to add the spinach and Hood Whole Milk to the processor (or blender) – this allows the spinach to get mixed up really well. Then you’ll add the avocado to make the green really pop! After those first few items are mixed, you can add all of the other smoothie ingredients and blend it together. Pour the smoothie into a couple of glasses and you’re ready to whip up some cream!

Whipped Topping

I keep my whipped cream very minimal by using Hood Heavy Cream and a tablespoon of honey for just a touch of sweetness. Whip the cream in a stand mixer or using a hand mixer on medium high until stiff peaks form. Then add the honey and whip for an additional minute. Spoon this on top of the green smoothie base – easy peasy!

Raspberry Drizzle

Lastly it’s time for the “bloody” raspberry drizzle! Using a microwave safe bowl, heat the raspberries and tablespoon of water for about 30 seconds. Stir and mash it up and then let it cool for a few minutes. Once it’s cooled off a little, drizzle it on top of the whipped cream. I added a spooky Halloween bat wing to the top of the smoothies for an extra festive look.

Serve with a straw and enjoy!
