Healthy Toddler Snack: Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie Bowl With Superfood Toppings

March 17, 2021      1 Comment

Healthy Toddler Snack Idea: Almond Breeze Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie Bowl With Superfood Toppings. Bananas, chia seeds, blueberries and cacao nibs.

Are you looking for a quick, easy and healthy toddler snack idea? Look no further because this Blueberry Almondmilk Yogurt Smoothie Bowl is delicious and your toddler will definitely devour it! Plus, it’s topped with some of my favorite superfoods for added nutrients and immune boosting benefits!

Disclosure: this post is sponsored by Almond Breeze but opinions are my own.

My twin toddlers have always loved smoothies and when the smoothie bowl trend started we joined right in! I love smoothie bowls because they are so versatile; there are a ton of different toppings to add for varying textures and flavors and you can either use yogurt or another fruit mixture as a base. It’s also a really easy way to add in nutrient dense toppings, like chia seeds and blueberries. Plus, is there anything more aesthetically pleasing than a perfectly designed smoothie bowl?!

Building smoothie bowls only takes a few minutes and it’s a great way to get your toddler involved! Take out their favorite healthy toppings and place them in small bowls for easy access. Then let them choose and add what they want; my girls always love helping and learning in the kitchen.

This smoothie bowl is super easy to make, just start with a base of yogurt — I used the new Almond Breeze Fruit on the Bottom Almondmilk Yogurt. I chose blueberry, but it also comes in peach, black cherry and strawberry. I’ve tried many plant-based yogurts before, but this one tastes the best – and as a plus has no artificial flavors, is a good source of calcium and contains five live active cultures. This almondmilk yogurt has real fruit on the bottom which I love. I add some berries on top for an extra punch, but the Yogurt is fruity and delicious without it.

The best part is it’s super creamy and tastes like a treat so my toddlers love it. There are also a few other flavors of Almond Breeze Fruit on the Bottom Almondmilk Yogurt: Strawberry, Black Cherry and Peach. All of these yogurts are a good source of calcium and vitamin E.

Once you’ve got your almondmilk yogurt in a separate bowl (for added toppings space), plan out your topping order. I started with banana slices, sprinkled chia seeds halfway on the bananas and yogurt, added frozen blueberries next and ended with sprinkled cacao nibs.

Bananas are always a great option for smoothie bowls because they add sweetness and they are a good source of vitamin B6, potassium and fiber. Chia seeds are an easy addition as well because they are packed full of antioxidants and are a good source of protein, fiber and magnesium. I like adding chia seeds to most of my own smoothies and smoothie bowls because of their health benefits and mild flavor.

Blueberries are full of antioxidant power and are high in vitamin C and potassium. My toddlers love frozen blueberries so we always opt for them instead of fresh, but either way you’ll get their awesome health benefits. Lastly, cacao nibs are jam packed full of minerals and nutrients. They have antioxidants, iron, magnesium and are a good source of fiber, protein and healthy fats.

The first time I made this blueberry yogurt smoothie bowl for my toddlers they went wild for it! It was gone in about 5 minutes and then they were grabbing at another yogurt container for more, I’m telling you, it’s so good! The Almond Breeze Fruit on the Bottom Almondmilk Yogurt was definitely the best part for them.

Here are some more topping ideas: unsweetened coconut flakes, flax, chocolate chips, any other fresh or frozen fruit slices, nuts (pepitas, almond slices, etc.), granola, peanut butter or nut butter, cinnamon, honey and so much more! The variety of toppings is endless and you can be as creative as you want. Smoothie bowls are a great way to make snack time fun with your toddler and get some extra nutritious foods into their diet.

Enjoy the recipe below and let me know if you come up with a yummy variation to this!

Having twins in Pre-K this year has brought on a l Having twins in Pre-K this year has brought on a lot of new experiences. The girls are branching out and becoming more independent, playing with and making different friends while being in the same class, learning lots of new things, etc.

Starting school was always met with the question “should they be in the same class?” It’s a question we thought about a lot and sought out opinions from family, friends and other twin parents. We ultimately decided that since it’s Pre-K and only a couple of hours…the same class would obviously be much more conducive to our schedules (esp being a single vehicle family). I wondered if they would get along, lean on each other too much, etc. Ultimately it was the right choice because they are thriving and their teacher says they connect briefly in class, but overall do their own thing.

I’m not sure what we will do next school year for Kindergarten. I’ll occasionally ask them how they feel about it and they always say they want to stay together - which is so funny because they bicker a LOT at home. 😄 Their teacher gasped when I told her that because they are angels at school, of course lol.

Twin moms, what did you do when your twins started school?

Honestly thought, God bless this boy. 🥰 Henry Honestly thought, God bless this boy. 🥰

Henry is just about 16 months and is such a little man. He is walking and pretty much running, climbing, saying some words like mama, dada, done, book and lots of “B” words. He is not as enthusiastic about baby sign yet but he’s got “all done” down. He *loves* to watch the squirrels outside and squeals with joy every time they come to eat the bird food. We finally got rid of all but one bottle at bedtime because he was too comfortable and not eating enough real food lol. Mom and dad were comfortable with it too until we found out he was a little anemic. Oops! Now he’s eating a ton and there are no worries (still in that 94th percentile lol). I’m still pumping because this boy does love his milk. He’s gotten really good at drinking out of his regular and straw cups instead of bottles and we’ve moved onto cold milk. He’s very into throwing…everything. He is so strong it’s unbelievable sometimes. Raising a boy compared to the girls is SO different it blows my mind most days. I’ve found that every milestone so far has been a little bit behind when the girls hit them, like I’m pretty sure they were signing and talking a little more! I don’t like to compare them for any reason other than it’s just interesting! Babies are all so different and we are so comfortable just letting Henry be Henry. 🥰 He’s the best little dude!

Dancing into the New Year with these crazy gals. Dancing into the New Year with these crazy gals.

I’ve been focusing on family time and getting things done around the house lately. We’ve had a few hiccups already this year lol but all is well and we are dealing with everything!

I made time to write down my goals for the year and really plan how I want life to look by the end of 2023. No one resolution but lots of small things I want to accomplish.

I still feel like I’m unofficially on winter break social media wise but hopefully I get some motivation and inspiration this week. 🙂
